Fire Prevention Week begins tomorrow. This year’s theme is “Don’t wait – Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years. Please take a moment to check your smoke alarms and if they are are over 10 years old they should be replaced.
On Saturday October 15th from 11:00 – 3:00 we will be hosting a open house at fire station 2 on Sherwood Avenue.
Firefighters will be available to demonstrate various aspects of fire safety. All members of the community are invited and encouraged to stop by at the fire station to learn about smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and other tips meant to encourage safety at home given the potential of hazards that lead to fire. There will be gear to try on and kids can help put out a “fire” with the help of a firefighter (using our new digital training tool). The apparatus including the new Engines 8-1 and 8-2 will be on display for public viewing; children’s pictures in the driver’s seat are always a big hit. Refreshments will be available during the course of the day.
Please stop by and say hi. We would love to see you!
