CLINTON HEIGHTS FIRE DEPARTMENT

Volunteering Opportunities

One Team. One Mission

Being a volunteer firefighter offers opportunities you won’t find in any other organization in the world. Everyone has their reason for joining – the training, the flexibility, or the benefits. Still, it’s the sense of purpose and the pride of serving your community and the great state of New York that will be the most rewarding.

Our motto of “One Team. One Mission” is our commitment to the community, the fire service, and the duty to train and work hard to meet and exceed the growing standards of today’s modern fire service.

Membership Opportunities Include:

Train for and participates in protecting life and property through firefighting, rescue and emergency medical activities. Participates in fire drills and attends training classes in firefighting, first aid, and other related subjects.

Serve as peace officers keeping unauthorized persons away from emergency scenes, monitoring firefighters working at the scene while performing their duties, and controlling traffic in emergencies.

Respond to emergencies by supporting firefighters and other first responders at incidents. They carry out tasks to help keep our Fire and Emergency members and the public safe during an incident.

Essential to the success of CHFD, these volunteers complete administrative tasks and other duties that keep the department operating smoothly. This opportunity may be perfect for someone who wants to be involved but does not want to ride a fire truck or rescue vehicle. Some examples are:

  • Public Education
  • Fundraising
  • Community Events & Engagement

Volunteering with the Fire Department is also an excellent way for people who want to start a career, gain technical experience, and earn paid certifications that can carry over into a career as a firefighter, EMT, Paramedic, or first responder.
